Titans Finish Wildcat Tourney With 2-1 Mark

Tucson, Ariz. - Cal State Fullerton (3-3) wrapped up its Wildcat Classic schedule with a 3-0 sweep of Presbyterian (0-5) behind well-rounded performances from freshman Elle Moffatt (seven kills, five blocks) and sophomore Bre Moreland (six kills, four aces, 10 digs) Saturday morning in Match No. 5 at Arizona's McKale Center.

The Titans were in control the entire match, out-hitting the Blue Hose .261 to -.081 to complete the 25-17, 25-12, 25-5 sweep. The 25-5 set win was the largest margin of victory for Fullerton in the current 25-point scoring format, surpassing last year' s 25-8 set win over Montana exactly a year ago. In the set, the Titans made just one attack error and were 5-for-5 in sideout opportunities.

The Blue Hose connected for just 18 kills in the morning session and were led by Presley Mabrey who had eight. Junior Kayla Neto paced the Titans' attack with 10 kills.

Fullerton was tough at the net providing 11.0 team blocks including seven solos. Leah Maurer (2 solos and an assist) and Jennifer Edmond (three assists) worked in support of Moffatt with six additional blocks for the Titans. Kelly Berryman had her hand in a share of three blocks for Presbyterian, which accumulated 5.0 team blocks.

Moreland set a new career high from the line by serving up four of the Titans' five aces on the match. Her 10 digs also matched Presbyterians' Mary Trimpe for the game high with 10 digs.

Freshman Dani Franks made her collegiate debut on Saturday picking up a pair of digs in portions of two sets.

The Titans are idle until next Friday and Saturday (Sept. 9-10) in Missoula, Mont., where they will be taking on Montana, Idaho and South Dakota in their final non-conference tournament of the season.
