Blues and Richmond Battle To 0-0 Draw

Allen Bacon at the Daily Bosco and Richmond Kickers Soccer contributed to this story.

The Los Angeles Blues (who play home games at Fullerton's Titan Stadium) and Richmond Kickers played to a 0-0 draw at Titan Stadium on Friday night in the first of two games between the two teams this weekend.

The game was the last regular season game at Titan Stadium in Fullerton this season. The Blues are scheduled to start the playoffs next week against Harrisburg but the location has not been determined.

Both teams could have scored, with Richmond showing greater urgency late in the game as they pressed for a winner. The Kickers were reduced to 10 men in the final minute as Ross MacKenzie was shown a red card for a late challenge, and now will wait on Saturday night’s game between the Wilmington Hammerheads and Dayton Dutch Lions to see if they can still claim second place in the American Division.

Should the Hammerheads defeat the Dutch Lions, Wilmington would claim the No.2 seed in the American Division and host the Kickers in the divisional semifinals next weekend.

The Blues are already locked in to a trip to face the Harrisburg City Islanders in the National Division semifinals after Harrisburg’s defeat to Orlando earlier in the evening.

The Blues and Kickers meet again on Sunday night at 8 p.m. EDT at Norco College in the regular season finale for both clubs.
