Long Time Fullerton Business Leaves For Texas

Kairak, which manufactures refrigeration systems, is closing it's Fullerton plant on State College to move to Fort Worth, TX.

The company announced that between August and December, 58 people will be laid off.

"Kairak is providing job placement services and working with the State Employment Development Services to help provide assistance", said Kairak spokesman Brian Casserilla.

Kairak has been in business for 45 years supplying no-frost refrigeration units to restaurants. Their client list includes BJ's Restaurants, Brewhouse, The Cheesecake Factory, Chili's, Costco Delis, Disney Parks, El Pollo Loco, Hilton Hotels and Jack In the Box.

Kairak has developed patented technology for condenser assemblies, food pan units and pan coolers. It is a division of Illinois Tool Works, a $15.9 Billion diversified industrial manufacturer with 60,000 employees worldwide.

The closure "in no way reflects the skill or dedication of the Kairak workforce", Illinois Tool Works said in a release. "However, the challenges of this difficult economic period have required Kairak to re-evaluate the breadth of it's products and services and over the next several months the company will concentrate on the assembly of world-class refrigeration systems based on a standard family of products"
